Holistic Pelvic Health

Pelvic steaming is an ancient cross cultural practice of sitting over medicinal herbal steam. A regular steam practice increases circulation, lubrication, and relaxation. Depending on the individual’s needs and desired results, specific steam plans help treat many pelvic issues, including endometriosis, prolapse, postpartum and atrophy, in addition to healing and releasing sexual trauma, infections, fibroids, and cysts. As a trained Pelvic Steam Practitioner through The Peristeam Hydrotherapy Institute, I’ve learned how to help myself and my clients over the years, and I’d love to share a few deeply encouraging stories from clients.

1. Ginny (Name changed for privacy purposes), reached out to me in January 2024. She had tried to conceive for several years without success. She experienced extreme pain during her period since her first period at age 12. She had clots, cramping, and brown blood during her moon time, and her cycles were consistently short (less than 28 days). Ginny also experienced frequent yeast infections as well as mid cycle fresh blood spotting and pain during sex.

I recommended that Ginny stop trying to conceive until her cycle consistently reached 28-30 days and was free of pain, discharge, spotting, large clots and brown blood. I suggested that Ginny steam 1-2 times daily when possible, alternating with my Disinfecting and Gentle Pelvic steam blends. I also encouraged her to clear her schedule whenever possible during her moon time so that she could rest her body while it was cleansing and regenerating blood. Ginny quickly understood that connecting to her womb with positive and pleasurable experiences and balancing her cycle were essential steps in providing a healthy space for a baby to grow.

Ginny took my advice and began the protocol of steaming daily and resting during her moon time. During the first 3 cycles, she released a lot of clots and brown blood. 9 months later, her periods are pain free as long as she rests, she only has occasional mid cycle light spotting, and her menstrual flow has fresh blood with only occasional clots. Her cycles are more consistent. Ginny also experienced increased pleasure during intimacy.

Considering Ginny experienced challenging menstrual cycles for over 15 years, these results, obtained in less than a year, are incredible. Her womb is very close to being able to hold a healthy birth, and she is looking forward to beginning her Pelvic Steam Conception plan soon.

2.Layla (name changed for privacy purposes), reached out to me for help dealing with an 18 cm ovarian cyst. She is postmenopausal and her GYN suggested a hysterectomy. Layla did not want to have surgery, and she felt there must be another option. She was also experiencing insomnia, bloating, and hot flashes and night sweats.

I prescribed short steam sessions for Layla. Using my Cooling Pelvic Steam Blend, I suggested 10 minute sessions once or twice a day. Just one month later, at Layla’s follow up, her cyst had decreased in over half the original size. She was in much less pain, was less bloated, was sleeping better, and her hot flashes had decreased. Layla was ecstatic. At her second follow up another month later, the cyst had decreased in half again (Her GYN still wants her to have surgery, and doesn't believe that steaming had been the cause of her success).

I encouraged Layla to keep up her good work of 10 minute steam sessions once or twice a day and to double her herbal dose. I suggested that she find a practitioner who supported her holistic efforts.
